‘A Box Of Crabs’, a hand-cut 10” lathe album featuring re-workings and alternative takes of seven selected tracks from C Joynes' ‘Poor Boy On The Wire’ LP (Cardinal Fuzz / Sophomore Lounge).

Sonido Polifonico say:

"In Dec 2021, C Joynes released ‘Poor Boy on the Wire’, his first full album dedicated wholly to the electric guitar. Now, as a companion piece to that release, Sonido Polifonico is pleased to announce ‘A Box Of Crabs’, a 10” lathe mini-LP, featuring re-workings of seven selected tracks.

"Using analogue tape-delay and spring reverb, this release presents a ‘dirty Mono’ mix of material on the original album. Key tracks include Joynes’ arrangement of Albert Ayler’s ‘Our Prayer’, a version of the Appalachian folk tune ‘Red Wing’ remixed in the style of 60s Nigerian hi-life guitarist S.E Rogie, and an alternative take of the semi-improvised piece for prepared guitar ‘Gould’s Bicycle’.

"There is a raw intimacy to Joynes’ playing, and this dirty Mono mix refracts his tunes through the soundworld of garage rock, rockabilly and early rock’n’roll."

Each 10" disc was cut by hand on clear vinyl by Phil PIO at 3.45rpm Lathe Cutting Services. It comes packaged in a handcut wrap-around cover sleeve, with inserts including an envelope of 9 photographs, 2 badges and a hand-baked clay 'crow' token.
